Riding the quarry

A few of us joined John last Sunday afternoon for another fantastic day at the quarry.

We all met at Zone7 where we got to check out the lekker cockpits of some of the bikes that will be doing the Amageza rally at the end of April.

The day started out a little iffy with us leaving Zone7 and riding directly into the sights of a waiting traffic cop. In all fairness, he was right to stop us - we were riding on the verge of the road towards oncoming traffic. Fortunately John's good looks did the trick, and we all got away with only a few stern words.

I haven't been riding in weeks, and it felt awesome to be back on the dirt. My Priscilla was enjoying herself too - throwing her tail out round the corners.  ;-)

After a few hours of fun, I followed Roost, Pleco & Rubicon back along the railway line into Table View. Another fantastic day - thanks Crossed-up!! (John)

Okay, here is my first post that is now my second post: Last night, I decided to give a traditional South African recipe, called Melkkos, another go.  I tried this recipe a couple of years ago and the end result was a burnt milk, no lumps concoction - in this recipe no lumps is a disaster!  The recipe I used at that time came out of a traditional South African cookbook, called   Kook en Geniet   or the english version   Cook and Enjoy .  I don't know if the reason for my original defeat was inexperience or if the recipe is to blame.  Nevertheless, last night I googled for a recipe and decided on the following one: http://www.tastemag.co.za/ Recipe-1280/Melkkos.aspx  The recipe is by Maranda Engelbrecht on Woolies' Taste Mag website. The BIG haircut

Last week whilst Jethro was busy doing an exercise with his fringe hanging his eyes, I decided that is as much as I can take and the decision was made to cut his hair.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE his long hair but the hair in the eyes just got too much for me and I thought we could make it a yearly tradition, that way his hair could grow long again up until the point where it gets too messy. I initially only wanted to cut a little bit as I'm usually a bit overeager in my hair cutting attempts (Tony and Jethro can both vouch for that :) ).  A fringe was cut and I was careful to try and round it in with the longer hair as I was thinking that a straight cut fringe will be a bit like a girls hair.  It looked very nice and we decided to leave our barbery for the day until Tony gets home to give his opinion. Any 5 year olds in the house? Please stand up!

And finally the big day arrived.  The day our first baby turns 5! Cupcakes were baked and presents were wrapped.  Now we just have to wait for Mister to wake up...  last year when we woke him up with cupcakes and singing we were told in a cross voice:  "Mom and Dad, I'm still sleeping!"  So, this time we wait :) And so the man of the hour arises, with a big smile on his face, informing me that he is five now!  And so he is!  Happy birthday Jethro!!  Our incredible, amazing, courageous, sporty boy!  We love you so much, as much as to the moon and back!  We love you more than ice cream with sprinkles, with a fireball!  You are our super duper super hero!  And we are so proud to be your mommy and daddy!  So, cupcakes were eaten, presents unwrapped.  Jethro stumbled upon his gift in my cupboard a couple of days prior, so the surprise was lacking but he still enjoyed playing with his new Lego and built a magnificent little car!  He even received a badge that said:
