Wet and muddy Parklands tracks

After my tumble in the Atlantis dunes at the end of May, I took a break from offroad riding. I still commuted on the bike, but it's not the same. I was getting withdrawal symptoms, and after the monsoon amount of rain we had recently, I decided that I should take the gap, and go for a ride.

Today's "fearless warriors" included:

She really is something of beauty ;-)

We met next to the new bridge that is being built (between Sanddown road & Potsdam road)

















There were plenty of puddles... some of them deep enough that
the water was between my ankle and my knee while riding









The perfect way to end a perfect ride
I'm a better, happier man than I was this morning ;-)

The BIG haircut

Last week whilst Jethro was busy doing an exercise with his fringe hanging his eyes, I decided that is as much as I can take and the decision was made to cut his hair.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE his long hair but the hair in the eyes just got too much for me and I thought we could make it a yearly tradition, that way his hair could grow long again up until the point where it gets too messy. I initially only wanted to cut a little bit as I'm usually a bit overeager in my hair cutting attempts (Tony and Jethro can both vouch for that :) ).  A fringe was cut and I was careful to try and round it in with the longer hair as I was thinking that a straight cut fringe will be a bit like a girls hair.  It looked very nice and we decided to leave our barbery for the day until Tony gets home to give his opinion. Atlantis Dunes

The dunes at Atlantis provide an expansive and varied playground for sand riders. Of particular value, the area provides sections that are sufficiently mild for those relatively new to sand riding and sections that are adequately challenging for the experienced sand rider. Doug organised a ride with the hope that there would be enough interest in an outing to the Atlantis dunes to bring together both skilled and not-so-skilled sand riders, with the former providing example, insight and support and the latter being given the opportunity to enjoy a new experience. Permits are required to access the dunes and if you make use of the area, I would encourage you to only enter with valid permits as this access is a real privaledge - and risking it is shortsighted.  I have heard via the grapevine that for a long time now, there may be pressure from nature conservation to close off this facility for motorised use.  I hope that if we all continue to supprt the current perm...
